“What’s next?”

Chef Grant Achatz and Nick Kokonas posed that question to one another and the resulting answer was the 2011 opening of their constantly changing concept, Next Restaurant. Rather than stick to a given, Next completely shifts its style every few months, focusing on a different country, theme, or moment in time. The total lack of template allows for limitless freedom and yet demands absolute focus. The menu, beverage program, service style, and necessary equipment can move from “Paris: 1906” to “A Tour of Thailand” to “Childhood” in a single year. This is the magic of Next.

Next Restaurant has been acclaimed from the beginning.

In 2011 Next won the James Beard Foundation Award for the Best New Restaurant in the United States, received the same distinction from the Time Out Chicago Eat Out Awards, and since opening has garnered an unprecedented 8 four-star reviews from the Chicago Tribune for its menus.

Tables at Next Restaurant are sold by a ticketing system, which includes season ticket holders the entire year. Private functions are possible by reserving The Room any date the restaurant is open or by booking the entire restaurant on dates the restaurant is closed.

The Room at Next is a private dining room downstairs from the restaurant. In this dramatic setting, up to 10 guests can experience the cuisine of Next. The Room is situated directly adjacent to The Office, the speakeasy component of The Aviary, and can be combined to complete the dining experience. The Room can also be utilized for small meetings, presentations, or demonstrations.

Pricing for The Room starts at $2,953.34. Service will be by a dedicated server or team of servers. All details are dependent on the scope of the function and the day of the week.

The cost of reserving the entire restaurant starts at $43,508.83. Our complete team of chefs and servers will provide for your every need.

Private dining functions at Next Restaurant include:

  • Next current menu of approximately 12-18 courses
  • Reserve beverage pairings including wines, cocktails, and other beverages specifically chosen to pair with the menu
  • Menu themed coffee service and bottled water

All charges are exclusive of tax and service fees.
